Bassist/singer Phaedra Kwant is a musical chameleon. She graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2004, became the first female Master of Music Bass Guitar in The Netherlands and grew to be a sought-after musician in the pop,- jazz- and theater scenes. Then, she toured the world with renowned artists for years. However, Phaedra wouldn’t be Phaedra if she wouldn’t also set her own course.
On August 8 she presents her new record full of original jazz compositions, where she flirts with pop, jazz and lyricism. Melodical songs, instrumental jazz with a muscular kick and lots of room for improv is what we’re talking about here, and that versatility is exactly what makes Kwant unique. Include her clear, light voice into the mix with the dark, deep grooves of her bass guitar and you’ll understand what we mean.
